A Week in the Life: Thursday – Sharpening the Standard
#67 - Strength & Speed Coaching - Pursuing Your Best ⚡️
Monday sets the tone.
Block Day reinforces the culture.
Thursday sharpens the standard.
By Thursday, the early-week energy has settled.
What’s left is focus, form, and follow-through.
That’s exactly why Thursday matters.
Thursday is a refinement day.
It’s about tightening the details.
We don’t grind through Thursdays. We sharpen through them.
Why Thursday Matters
Mid to late in the week has a way of revealing who’s consistent and who’s conditional.
The ones who stay focused when the excitement fades are the ones who keep improving. Thursday teaches that.
Mentally, it’s about staying locked in when you get this deep into the week.
Physically, it’s about moving with precision—clean reps, sharp details, full intent.
This is where technique meets toughness.
We coach athletes to control the controllables: attitude, effort, & discipline.
Consistency isn’t about always feeling great.
It’s about showing up and doing great work to the best of your ability.

The Flow
Our Thursday session typically looks like this:
Mobility Flow → Activation or Tumbling → Hang Clean Progression → Single-Leg Strength → SHREDmill → Post-Workout Option
Once again, each block has its purpose:
Mobility & Activation – Reset after the first two training days. Improve range, posture, and rhythm before adding load.
Tumbling Series – Balance, coordination, and control. Forward rolls, cartwheels, shoulder rolls, and handstands—each one builds proprioception and confidence under movement.
Hang Clean Progression – Focus on timing and precision: explosive pull, quick under the bar, strong catch. It’s about how the bar moves, not just how much weight is on it.
Single-Leg Strength – SL squats and RDLs develop balance, control, and power transfer—skills that carry straight to sport.
SHREDmill – Short, high-quality bursts of speed. Intent over distance. Every rep is recorded, every rep is earned.
Post-Workout Option – For athletes who want extra work or need to focus on a specific weakness. It’s structured autonomy—freedom within the framework.
Coaching Emphasis
Thursday exposes your habits.
You can’t fake focus.
That’s why our cues and expectations stay the same:
Details win Thursdays. Don’t rush the reps—own them.
Technique before load. Movement is always the priority.
Cue consistency. The same words, the same expectations, every set.
Model discipline. Athletes mirror what you emphasize.
Almost Friday isn’t an excuse—it’s an opportunity to prove your habits.

Takeaway
Thursday is where athletes learn to finish the week as strong as they started.
It’s where the work gets refined—not rewritten.
“Sharpening the Standard” means doing the small things right when it would be easier to coast.
“You don’t rise to the level of your goals.
You fall to the level of your habits.”
Sharpen yours.
